Barton Civic Society hosts Martin Watts, from the Wagoners’ Museum at Sledmere, who describes the importance of horses for the army in the First World War, and the role of veterinary hospitals and mobile veterinary units in rescuing and treating injured horses so that they were brought back to service as soon as possible.
