Event Navigation

The Ropewalk, formerly known as Hall’s Barton Ropery, is a Grade II listed former rope factory which dates back to around 1800 after the Halls, a wealthy ship-owning family from Hull, first became involved in rope making in Barton in 1767. The factory continued to make rope until 1989 when it closed down. Today, the Ropewalk is a regionally acclaimed centre for the arts housing a museum space, art galleries and shop, a live performance venue and artist studios. Learn more about the history of this building with a guided tour from CEO, Liz Bennet.
