Organized by: Barton Civic Society
The first talk in the 2020 programme begins with Pal Mann tracing the development of the English manorial system and styles of ownership. Deeds for land and property are often seen as boring and repetitive yet they have a long history stretching back at least to the reign of King Alfred. As well as some examples of deeds, matters such as how to plough with a team of oxen and how to hide your land from the king will be discussed.
Hidden History tells of Barton upon Humber's fascinating history through a collection of media including original and authentic photographs, video clips, narration and text.
