Wild Life Day at Water’s Edge Visitor Centre – Sunday July 30
Waters’ Edge biggest event of the year takes place this Sunday (July 30) from 10am. Join in for a fun, educational and free day out for all the family with displays, activities and craft workshops in the visitor centre and around the country park with free admission for all the family!
Indoor activities include Lincolnshire Beekeepers’ indoor behive where you can see the bees working the honey, the Woodland Trust stall with a range of different activities.
The drop-in activity zone with the opportunity to handle a variety of exotic animals and take part in creative activities with local crafters including pottery snails, Family Hands wildlife paintings, Powertex garden plaques, Lion Learners and the Lego scene from Brick Box
There will be pond dipping at 10.30am where you can explore the ponds to see what creatures can be found, a wildflower talk with Aiden Neary of the Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust between 10.30am and 1pm when he will give a guided talk on the park’s most interesting wildflowers, and a medicinal and culinary walk at 11am when medical herbalist Trudy Norris will show how to forage, preserve and extract medicinal plants safely.
There’s also bug hunting at 11am, live children’s theatre with Rhubarb Theatre’s Superworm, a three mile guided walk, toad rescue and release.
All day there is a falconry area, a nature trail, wildlife bingo and the return of last year’s food and craft market.
