John Etheridge with special guest Kit Holmes at Ropery Hall

March 1 @ 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm | Cost: £18 – £20

Organized by: Ropery Hall

Event Navigation

Enjoy an uplifting evening of: blues, folk, jazz, African grooves and much more from two outstanding guitarists. John Etheridge is one of the world’s most respected guitarists and with over 50 years of live performance and recordings it is no exaggeration to say that his music spans a myriad of styles from Gypsy jazz to acid-rock and everything in-between!

He is still a member of the legendary Soft Machine and has collaborated with the violin legends Stephane Grappelli and Nigel Kennedy. He is currently in a duo with the eminent classical guitarist John Williams. Tonight’s solo performance will be a chance to experience an intimate evening with John, who is not only an excellent raconteur, but arguably, as Pat Metheny once said: ‘One of the best guitarists’‘

Special guest Kit Holmes’ trademark sultry vocals and virtuoso guitar playing have wowed UK audiences with performances including: Paul McCartney’s LIPA, the Anne Frank Awards, a performance for Bill Bryson and Andy Kershaw and a headline show at the International Guitar Festival of Great Britain. Bob Harris and Andy Kershaw featured her on their BBC shows and Kit’s third album, Driving into the Blue, which features the legendary double bass player Danny Thompson, was met with high critical acclaim. Expect an enthralling and energetic live performance of blues-driven roots with a soul sensibility.
