Being on tour is something he really enjoys, seeing people and being with people is part of his experience as a performer. Hewill be playing songs from the Squeeze catalogue and from the solo albums he has recorded over the last 23 years. His story is told through stand up and some sit down, a trip back to his council estate in South London, from his very first lyrical expression to the dressing rooms of this show. His new songs written with Boo Hewerdine tell a story of celebration, 25 years writing lyrics and playing on stages big and small. A journey he look back on with great fondness and gratitude. He can’t wait to climb back on stage and perform, although he has been shy in the past he now finds myself feasting on the here and now deep within the shell like of your ear.
He will be joined on stage by Melvin Duffy on his pedal steel and together they will deliver an evening of warm and he hopes funny stories. Melvin’s playing is outstanding andChris feels so lucky to have him as his sideman, he cries over the songs and makes them sound always amazing.
‘Not Only But Also’ is not just a look back on 50 lyrical years, it’s a journey that asks, What Happened? What happened to all those years and mates Chris grew up with before he formed a band. He hopes you enjoy this new show for 2023
