Songs Of The Roaring 20s

The year was 1921. The world was recovering from the First World War and the Spanish Flu pandemic. As people came together again, so began the start of what we now know as the ‘Roaring 20s’, a remarkable period in history that saw one of the greatest flourishings of music, art, literature, and architecture. People socialising and audiences filling theatres again were a “symbol of returning to life”.

To mark 100 years of the ‘first jazz age’, multi-award-winning guitarist Martin Taylor MBE and Scottish-Canadian jazz singer Alison Burns embark on their first duo tour in five years. Taylor and Burns who have performed for Prince William at Windsor Castle and whose fans include Sir Michael Parkinson and Downtown Abbey creator Julian Fellowes, present a concert of jazz songs from the Roaring 20s by composers including Cole Porter, Hoagy Carmichael, Irving Berlin and George and Ira Gershwin. Tuxedos and fascinators are optional for this evening of uplifting jazz!
