The Ropewalk is delighted to announce the return of Gardening Day when gardening lovers (and those who aspire to be) can revel in all things gardening.

With the easing of restrictions now confirmed for Monday May 17 the east side only of the promenade of The Ropewalk will be taken over by a wide range of socially distanced plant stalls direct from the nursery, manned by expert stallholders including Carol the Plant Lady who already has a following in the area, and others with specialist knowledge on horticulture such as ornamental grass specialists Westshore Nurseries of Winterton, and Roanne Nurseries of Kilham that specialises in fuchsias, as well as cottage garden perennials and herbs.

Also making the journey across the river is Preston’s Ashkeys Growers, a family run plant nursery based in East Yorkshire that grows a large range of herbs and vegetables, alongside a great mix of herbaceous perennials, alpines, and cottage garden plants.

There will be other gardening related community stalls including one manned by the Barton Allotment Society whose members will be selling plants surplus to their own requirements, chainsaw carver Sarah Mitchell and New Holland’s Pete Rogers who is noted for both his both figurative sculptures and highly engineered water features.
The Ropewalk will also be manning a stall and selling, amongst other things, the potting pinnies that have been so popular in previous years.

There will also be live entertainment courtesy of Bread and Butter Theatre and refreshments available in the Coffee Shop. This year the stalls will begin from the Coffee Shop going towards Ropery Hall rather than previous years when it has been based at the northern end of the Promenade. Running from 10am to 3pm free car parking is available at Tesco and Water’s Edge.
