This year sees the 80th anniversary of Manchester born and Barton raised novelist, artist and jazz pianist Ted Lewis as well as the 50th anniversary of the publication of his second novel Jack’s Return Home which was turned into the classic British film Get Carter starring Michael Caine.

A full year of events both locally and further afield has been put together by the Ted Lewis Group including film shows, lectures,  exhibitions and in September the launch of a new Ted Lewis Trail in Barton.
