The famous Anglo-Saxon tower, and medieval nave and chancel of St. Peter’s Church, are both archaeological and architectural treasures. Skeletal remains from 2,800 burials (about a quarter of those estimated to lie here) have yielded important information on early medical practice and the history of diseases such as arthritis.
