The Horse, the Ambulance and the Wagoners’ Special Reserve
Barton Civic Society hosts Martin Watts, from the Wagoners’ Museum at Sledmere, who describes the importance of horses for the army in the First World War, and the role of veterinary hospitals and mobile veterinary units in rescuing and treating injured horses so that they were brought back to service as soon as possible. The talk is being held at the Wilderspin National School Museum in the ground floor room of the Joseph Wright Hall, Queen Street [DN18 5QP] on Friday, June 17, starting at 7.30pm. Admission is free for Civic Society members and just £2 for non-members.
