Barton Farmers’ Market celebrates its first birthday
Barton Farmers’ Market celebrates its first birthday on Saturday 12 November with music, a children’s colouring competition.
The popular market has firmly established itself in the Barton calendar since it opened in November last year.
Kate Youdale, from the cupcake stall, will bake and decorate a birthday cake especially for the celebration to be cut by Cllr Paul Vickers, Chair of Barton Tourism Partnership, who will be helped by his three-year-old son George.
Accordionist Hugh Barwell, who attended the first market, will play jolly tunes to entertain the shoppers while children are invited to enter a draw a birthday cake competition. Pick up an entry form on the day – winner announced at 12pm.
Held on the second Saturday of the month in King Street, from 9am to 1pm, the market has a wonderful selection of quality local produce including artisan breads, free range pork, delicious farmhouse cheeses and scrumptious cupcakes.
That’s not to mention the mouth watering handmade fudge and chocolates.
A speciality food section has been added since the market started and here visitors can find tasty pies, jams and preserves.
Cllr Paul Vickers, North Lincolnshire Council ward member for Barton, said: “Barton’s birthday farmers’ market on 12 November gives shoppers a great opportunity to order all their essentials and foodie gifts for Christmas ready for collection at the next market on 10 December.
“Pop along on the day and enjoy the celebrations.”
