Bardney Hall is a fine Queen Anne house built in the early 1700s for William Gildas as a private DSC_0034residence. Located on the corner of Whitecross Street, Preston Lane and Caistor Road, opposite to Baysgarth Park, it stands on the site of Bardney Abbey Rectory, the Lincolnshire monastery owning much of Barton during the middle ages and reputed to have a secret passage to Thornton Abbey.   The Hall has many fine architectural features which reflect the town’s growing prosperity during the 18th Century.
