Make Do & Mend at Wilderspin National School Museum

All sorts of arts and crafts make use of odds and ends – recycling and re-using materials to make creative things and decorate around the home.  Craft stalls selling and demonstrating, rummage sale, 1940s classroom for kids to try wartime recycling, and more from 10am to 3pm.

Bookings for stalls are now open for amateur and commercial crafters who recycle to create!  There will also be stalls available for local charities and organisations.  Please get in touch for more details on (01652) 635172 or email enquiries@wilderspinschool.org.uk

Classroom Crafts for Kids at Wilderspin National School Museum

Every Thursday during the summer holidays children aged 5-13 can try out one of several crafts their parents or grandparents will recall – at school or in the home.   This is the first of four weekly craft sessions.  Come back each week to try a different craft.

£4 per single session or £3.50 per multiple sessions.  Children under 8 must be accompanied by an adult.  Tel (01652) 635172 to book.

Visit Burton Constable – East Yorkshire’s finest house – Barton Civic Society

Early booking is recommended for our next adventure exploring the historic Burton Constable Hall and grounds. As well as a guided tour upstairs and downstairs in the fine Elizabethan mansion lived in by the Constable family for over 500 years, you can enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the surrounding woodland and parkland with lots of great walks and picnic spots – although there’s also a tea room if you’d prefer that! The visit will also include the recently refurbished Stable Block. Full details, including cost, will be available in the spring but put the date in your diary now. Non members are welcome.

Performance in the Park presents The Emperor’s New Clothes

4631892565_369x514Illyria Theatre present their cheekiest show ever! Han Christian Andersen’s story of an Emperor who parades in his new outfit – a suit of clothes that can only be seen by the wise.

There is no nudity in this production although one of the actors may be a little  chilly and you will see the Emperor’s Crown Jewels!

Recommended for children aged 5+ and their families

Running time: 1 hour 40 minutes including 20 minute interval

Car Boot Sale at Baysgarth House Museum

Baysgarth House Museum is hosting a car boot sale on  from 10am until 2pm. Refreshments will be on sale 9:30am to 3pm, with hot and cold drinks, refreshments and more!

Indoor and outdoor stalls are available, at £5 – call 01652 637568 or email info@champltd.org to book, and pay on the day.

Come along to buy or sell second hand treasures. All proceeds from the café and stall fees go to support CHAMP, a registered charity, and help this community-centred museum. Why not come see what bargains you can find? A further sales will take place on 10th September.

Barton upon Humber Allotment Society Annual Show

Held at the Lecture Hall, Trinity Church, Holydyke, this year’s judges including Radio Humberside’s Doug Stewart who will be judging the Flower Show and the funniest shaped potato section of the competition for schools.
