Welcome to Barton upon Humber

This charming town on the edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds in the shadow of the Humber Bridge has a lot to offer the visitor. In medieval times Barton was the most important port on the Humber and has many fine merchants' houses. Today the town centre is home to a wide range of friendly independent shops, welcoming eateries and museums. Regular events and performances are held through out the year.

Baysgarth Park transformed into the Land of Oz

Come along to Baysgarth Park on Sunday (August 27) and enjoy the last show in this year’s season of Performance in the Park as the Storytellers Theatre Company performs The Wizard of Oz.

Wizard-of-oz-emerald-city-clipart-kid Join Dorothy on her magical journey to the Land of Oz, from the cyclone that lifts her up in the air to her eventual final ride home in a musical story that will both fascinate and entertain.

Will the Wicked Witch of the West triumph, or will Dorothy rid the Land of Oz of the tyrant once and for all? She must kill both of the wicked witches if the Great Oz is to help her back to her home in Kansas. And what about the Scarecrow, does he find his brains? Just book your seat to see this production!

With colourful song, costume and action packed performance, this show will be a great treat for all who see it.  The performance starts at 2pm outside Baysgarth House Museum.  There is no charge but donations will be welcome.

Bring your seats, picnic, family and friends and enjoy the show!

Make Do & Mend at Wilderspin National School Museum, August 19

All sorts of arts and crafts make use of odds and ends – recycling and re-using materials to make creative things and decorate around the home.  There will be craft stalls selling and demonstrating, rummage sale, a 1940s classroom for kids to try wartime recycling, and more from 10am to 3pm at the Wilderspin National School on Queen Street.

Come along and see the work of  amateur and commercial crafters who recycle to create! There will also be stalls with local charities and organisations.
