Queen Street, Barton upon Humber, United Kingdom, DN18 5QP

Fri 21 April

The story of Herbert Stewart from Huntingdonshire who was a tutor for the Imperial Russian Royal family from 1908 until 1917. Using newly discovered photographs, Peter Rogers from Burnby Hall Gardens & Museum in Pocklington recounts Stewart’s unique firsthand experience of the unfolding Russian Revolution as revealed in his personal diary. The diary vividly captures the terrifying position of a foreign national living through the cataclysmic events one hundred years ago – particularly those like Stewart with connections to the old regime.

The talk takes place at the Assembly Rooms, Queen Street at 7.30pm. For up to date information visit:
Admission for Civic Society members is free. Non-members £2.
