Ted Lewis Jazz Festival – A Tribute to Get Carter

Barton pays tribute to one of its very own famous sons in this Ted Lewis Jazz Festival taking place over Friday, November 6 and Saturday, November 7.

The tribute weekend to the author of Get Carter gets under way on Friday, November 7, at the Assembly Rooms with a gig by Snake Davis with the Steve Walker Milestones.  Tickets cost £15 if not purchased as a two day full festival ticket for £40 until September 1 and £50 afterwards.

On Saturday the Assembly Rooms is again the venue for four gigs starting at 1pm with the Julie Edwards Quartet with tickets costing £8.  At 3.30pm the Ron Burnett Mardi Gras Band, featuring Ron who played with Ted in Ted’s Unity Jazz Band and guest trombonist Alan Dickinson who also played in the same band, continue the party and tickets for this gig cost £10.

The evening starts with a performance by  the Wendy Kirkland Quartet with Pat Sprakes (tickets £9) and conclude with Will Robinson’s Southside New Orleans Band with tickets costing £13.

A two day full festival ticket costs £40 if bought before September 1 or £50 afterwards while tickets to see both Saturday afternoon performances cost £16, tickets to see both evening performances cost £19 or a full day ticket costs £32.

In addition there will be memorabilia in the Market Place, Jack Carter Ales, a Get Carter film study and the Ted Lewis Trail which was launched earlier this year.
