Waters’ Edge Wildlife Day at Waters’ Edge – July 26

There’s a full programme of events at Waters’ Edge’s Wildlife Day on Sunday, July 26.

Outdoor activities start at 10.30am with a guided walk around the park identifying the brids, dragonflies and butterflies that make their home there.  At 11am there is a choice of pond dipping, a mini beast hunt and preserving, preparing and using medicinal plants with experienced medical herbalist Trudy Norris as well as a guest appearance of Spot the Scarecrows, a comical duo.  A Falconry Talk by Willow Falconry  begins at 11.30am.

In the afternoon you have to spot farmers on stilts from 1pm to 2pm with both pond dipping  and a mini beast hunt beginning at 1.30pm.  Willow Falconry will be giving a further talk at 2pm with Trudy Norris reprising her talk on medicinal plants at 2.30pm.  At 3.30pm there is the chance to go either pond dipping or on a mini beast hunt again while at 4pm there is the Willow Falconry Grand Finale with a talk and flying demonstration.

All these activities are free but as places are limited book early at reception to avoid disappointment.

Throughout the day there will be Nature Trails, a chance to have a go at traditional woodland crafts, a wildlife challenge, a Humber Estuary Quiz, deer spotting and enjoying yourself on inflatables, face painting or balloon toys.

Inside the Visitor Centre there will be a petting corner with Lion Learners and local bee keeper Nick Turner of the Lincolnshire Bee-Keepers Association will be there with a transparent beehive.

Other attractions are an activity zone and country crafts.
